Vancouver's Art
Vancouver is a city full of artistic ambience. The city's cultural life emcompasses music ranging from Jazz, Blues, Ballad, Pop, to Opera. Vancouver has thirty-two theaters presenting musicals, dramas and comedies.
If you love opera and ballets, there is the Queen Elizabeth Theater near Vancouver Library. The Vancouver Playhouse and Stanley Theatre are designed for dramatic and comedic performances, while the Art Club of Granville Island is home tointernational big shows.
Book lovers cannot afford to miss the "Vancouver International Writer's Festival" held annually in October on Granville Island. Over sixty writers, poets and playwrights regularly attend this colorful event.
Summer in Canada means numerous festivals. Take the "Du Maurier International Jazz Festival" for a starterIt began in June and lasted for ten days. Besides Vancouver, other major cities in Canada also have similar kinds of music festivals, inviting
well-known musical groups to give performances. All these music festivals, including the "du Maurier International Jazz Festival", featured indoor as well as open-air performances. One could enjoy this festival by either paying an admission to guarantee seats or taking ones chances and try to last
minute free seats. Visitors can also enjoy free performances in Gastown and Roundhouse. What is more, audiences can expect to receive complimentary newspaper, cookies and suntan lotions and some could even attend garden parties on the spot.
"Du Maurier International Jazz Festival" is not all there is during the summer festivities. There is another "Vancouver Folk Music Festival" taking place in July on Jericho Beach.
