From the wearing of the
green to a celebration of the green earth, Columbia celebrates a variety
of festivals to entertain, educate and inspire visitors.
Spring
St. Patrick's Day Festival in Five Points features live bands, arts and
crafts and a smorgasbord of tasty delights. The annual Riverfest Celebration
in early spring includes a 5k River Run, musical entertainment, arts and
crafts and food booths. Also in the early spring, Earth Day at Finlay
Park brings together environmental booths and vendors as well as traditional
festival fare.
Three Rivers Music Festival held in the heart of Columbia provides a
wide variety of musical acts on several stages.
Summer
Main Street Jazz brings world renowned performers to Columbia in late
May. Elegant dining is available on Main Street to compliment the music
of some of the world's greatest jazz musicians.
Fall
The Greek Festival is held annually in September at the Holy Trinity Greek
Orthodox Church in downtown Columbia. Traditional Greek dances, ceremonies,
food and beverages are all part of the three-day event.
The annual Alex English Let's Share Festival promotes cross-cultural
sharing and is highlighted by national dance companies, a block party
and live music, including jazz and reggae. Jubilee: Festival of Heritage
is a one-day event at the historic Mann-Simons Cottage designed to recognize
African-American heritage. The festival is highlighted by arts and crafts,
storytelling, and music and dance performances. Autumnfest is held in
October on the grounds of the historic Hampton-Preston Mansion and the
Robert Mills House. This award winning festival showcases fine arts and
crafts, cultural staged events, international foods and special events.
Winter
Vista Lights is held in Mid-November and offers open house walking tours
and receptions, entertainment by local musicians and carriage rides through
Columbia's antique district.
