Oklahoma Weather, what can I say.
You thought you knew Oklahoma, but not until you live here and enjoy the weather. I have lived here for many years and still haven抰 adapted to the weather here at all. Since Oklahoma is pretty much close to the center of the United States it gets a high chance of tornadoes, due to the warm wind currents from the Gulf of Mexico and the continuous cloud movement from the west. Oklahoma is the tornado state and trailer homes are not recommended when living here.
The weather like I said is very awkward. It is normal to the point that in the summer it is hot and in the winter it is cold. Should I say in the summer it is extremely hot? There are millions of times when are summers are even hotter than Texas. This year we had a lot of record highs, with the month of September still being in the 100抯. Now in the winter it is extremely cold as heck! We barely get to enjoy the spring or fall weather. If we do it feels like a few weeks because it goes from hot to cold in a hear beat. For example, my house almost died on me because one day I was using the air conditioning and the next day I had to use the heater. It is very funny because there are many times when you rotate between the two especially in your car. If the car were alive, the car would be griping too!
The snow here isn抰 that much as some of us like, but when we get it dang do we wish it were gone. We do get a lot of slick roads causing school to be canceled a lot. We do also get many months of no rain causing draughts and then we also go months of non-stop rain. We can抰 ever be happy because the weather just doesn抰 like Oklahoma. Since I don抰 watch the news, I am sometimes not dressed for the weather of that day and I look very silly. But, by the end of the night I know if I am going to bed in my sweats or my shorts!
