Brief Introduction

Tibetan food is light and plain. Except for some salt, onion and garlic, Tibetan dishes seldom have any hot pepper. This meets the trend of returning to simplicity. Some special Tibetan dishes include: dried meat, milk cake, ginseng cake, fried beef, spicy ox entrails, sausage, etc. The staple foods include butter, zanba (roasted highland barley flour), stuffed milk bun, etc. The major drinks here are buttered tea and highland barley wine.
