The Shanghai Wildlife Zoo covers an area of 153 hectares. According to the different habits and characteristics of the animals kept in the zoo, the park is divided into areas that imitate the natural habitats of different areas These include the grasslands and savannas, a carnivore breeding center. a flamingo enclosure, a scattered breeding center, a water fowl pond. and an endangered and rare animal enclosure. The zoo is home to 200 species of rare or endangered wildlife. totalling some 10,000 animals. The park is located 50 kilometers from the city proper.
