Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of the Chinese democratic revolution,
and his wilr Soong Ching Ling, lived in this building from 1918 to 1924.
It was in the residence that Dr. Sun Yat-sen met representatives of
the Communist Party and fostered the first cooperation between the Chinese
Communist Party and the Kuomintang.
